Hello,

a new firmware v1.03 beta 2 and toolbox v1.08 is available for download from here:

Cygnos360 V2 Firmware 1.03 beta 2.zip
Cygnos360 V2 Toolbox 1.08 beta.zip

*** BETA firmware and toolboxes should only be tested by advanced users. ***

The firmware contains all the new features of the previous firmware 1.03 beta. Please refer to this thread for further details. In conjunction with toolbox v1.08 beta, the new firmware will greatly improve upon read and write performance.

On our test system, programming a 16MB flash took 48 seconds with firmware 1.02. With the same firmware, reading took 55 seconds. Cygnos360 V2 was plugged in a cheap USB 2.0 hub for these test. With the new firmware v1.03 beta 2, programming takes 24 seconds and reading 28 seconds.

Performance has been much worse in the past when Cygnos360 V2 was connected to a USB root hub. This situation has improved now up to a point, where it is only slightly slower.

Your feedback is always welcome. Since we altered the timing of the NAND-flash reading and writing, regressions in this area may be possible. If you experience reading or writing errors you did not have previously, please report!

Differences in read and write performance are also of interest. Enjoy!

Cheers,

Hello damox,

thank you very much for the extensive tests! The crash with Toolbox 1.08 BETA and Firmware 1.03 BETA 1 was expected. But Toolbox 1.07 may *NOT* crash with Firmware 1.03 BETA 2. This has to be looked into. Firmwares always have to stay compatible with older Toolboxes ...

Does this firmware improve JTAG hack?

Yesterday,I installed the Cygnos modchip in Falcon V3 motherbopard and although I can extract my nand perfectly without an error, when I write xell or -removed- into the Cygnos the Hack doesn´t boot and I get E79 error.

Should I install the new firm and change to the new wiring?

Please help me!

Hi, as I told you on IRC last night, everything works fine for me.

I dumped 360 et Cygnos Kernel with 1.02 / 1.06

Did the same with 1.03b2 / 1.08

Compared them with WinMerge, exactly the same.

Flash worked well too.

about 3minutes with 1.06
Just 30 seconds with 1.08

I have a Jasper 16Mo "old" wired. (Thanks SoulHeaven)
Win Vista 32 / Dell Laptop, no hub
Cygnos Rev D

Thank you all

Hello RHOME152,

have you tried with an image that is confirmed to be working? If it is and you still get E79, you're encouraged to try firmware 1.03 beta 2. Update to this new firmware and remove the resistors afterwards (the order is important!). It has fixed all E79 issues so far. For now, you will have to use toolbox 1.08 beta with firmware 1.03 beta 2. There's a minor bug in the firmware that has already been fixed in our repository.

Thanx 4 answering TRaceBack

Definitively,nothing works here Cry

I updated to 1.03,removed the four resistors, and made the new wiring (one "old wire" not connected anywhere?)

I get E79 everytime I boot with cygnos programed with xell or -removed-.I´ve tried to write my original nand into cygnos and it boots smoothly without problems.Working with toolbox 1.0.8 of course.

Definitively, the problem is the JTAG.

Should I ask which are the exact modchip points dedicated to JTAG? Should I remove them and make the typical installation of falcon jtag with diodes? Will be any incompatibility issues?

Thanx for you patience and sorry about my english.I´m writting to you from Spain.

Hello RHOME152,

what kind of SMC are you using? If you're not using a patched SMC, then you will certainly get an E79 error. Does the LED flicker for a brief moment directly after power on? If not, then the JTAG hack was not injected.

You can always wire up the JTAG hack via SMC, but we do not officially support this installation.

Hello E79 here, with modified nand. have tried  the new installation without resisters and always get a e79.

Compared the written image with the original what i have flashed and it is different, is that bad?
worked with old wiring: no.

little new bug:
toolbox 1.08 crashed if i want to flash the firmware with an nand image (god bless me)
i have written the nand image with toolbox 1.06.

Hello Tom-Soja,

the images could mismatch if you have invalid blocks. If you don't have any invalid blocks, then the images have to match completely.

Your E79 error seems very persistent. You were not able to get XeLL booting with either our old and new wiring nor with the official free60 wiring, right?

Hmm, Toolbox 1.08 beta crashed with firmware 1.03 beta 2? Or did you flash the older 1.03 beta 1 firmware?

I believe Tom-Soja tried to update the cygnos firmware with a full 16mb nand dump.

Obviously this wont work, but an error message could be appreciated.

Yes old & new wiring is all the same.

i got 1 invalid block on my cygnos-nand so thx for the answer

i have read in the 1.03 (beta 1) thread that my cygnos usb platin should flicker for a little moment on xbox start if the firmware was made /hacked/ smc patched correctly. and it does not mean that the jtag wiring is defect if it dont flicker.

in my old thread i have uploadet my nand and i got great support from you , you have said that you have tested my image and it is fine. how can it be that the led dont flicker if the correct software is installed and the wiring is not important? i think the wiring is ok. the quick solder pads was much harder.

days for days and i dont get my xbox hacked ;(

have uploaded a dump of my hacked falcon image, it would be very very nice if anyone can confirm that it works with booting xell. i have no reason thx

http://www.file-upload.net/download-2091302/howami.bin.html
ps can i use resisters for the free60 hack to replace the diodes?

Hello Tom-Soja,

the image you once uploaded is confirmed to be working fine. Can you upload an original dump please? I'm starting to believe your box is not vulnerable.

The LED won't flicker, if you're not using our SMC and/or if you're not using our JTAG hack wiring.

Cheers,
