Wired install on slim
« on: September 15, 2011, 09:47:02 AM »
I have hooked up the Cygnos 360 Rev. E via wires to my Xbox 360 S motherboard. Toolbox detects both NANDs correctly (0xAD73) and is able to read the Cygnos 360's onboard NAND. However, when I try to read the Xbox 360 NAND, I get the error as shown below. I've resoldered everything a few times already and keep getting this error, therefore I'm guessing it's one of the following:
- Wires too long (they're about 20cm).
- Not enough pins connected (i have connected all of the quick solder pads + Vcc and GND).

Any idea how to solve this?

Shortening the wires to about 5cm did the trick.

Do you have any pics of it installed?  Also was it Rev E with the dual nand?

Do you know of any sites selling cygnos360 rev E?  I am wanting to do the same as you but want to do a dual nand setup with the Reset Glitch Hack so I can rig it to go on live with untouched nand and flip a switch to turn my Glitch back on then switch to the cygnos nand and play homebrew.

pointless to run a dual nand since there is no dash even out for it

Looks like only a few others that need to be figured out there but prolly not bad to figure out.   Then just gotta figure out if it is possible to power the 3.3v for the glitch off the cygnos360 and have it turn off when not using the nand on the cygnos360 and turn back on when using the cygnos360 nand.  :)

Does this look about right?

This is not my diagram.  Found this on X-S.

Are the X0-X7 points needed?  Are they just for the JTAG wiring?  If so they shouldn't be used for the Reset Glitch.  Am I correct on this?

**EDIT**  On another quick note.  Do you think this might work if I flash the glitch to the onboard nand and have the Cygnos360 nand flashed with my original nand?

If that will work I may either have to connect a seperate switch to kill the glitch chip or find a way to make the power go off to the Glitch Chip when the Cygnos360 is on for the original nand.

Here you go.  it is basically the same as the other Cygnos360.

ce 360 - Goes to the ce point of the 360 motherboard.  (Remember you have to lift the ce leg of the onboard tsop)
ground - ground point
vcc - 3.3 power
on and off points go to the switch.

Other points are used for the "Infectious board" if you have it.

Just found this myself for the V2 Rev E/F boards... some diagrams show X4 connected to FT3R1 - do not use that on slim, it's for JTAG hack stuff and can make the light on the usb board do funky things as the FT3R point isn't always 0V when the console is off (X4 seems to be used to time the jtag hack, the LED will blink when JTAG hack is delivered if X4 gets pulled high when the console turns on.)

Also, connect X0 to J2C3.5 so cygnos can do things like shut off your console if you hit read while it is on, and even more useful things like have 100% access to the NAND. If you want kernel UART through toolbox or whatever, connect X2 to J2C3.2 and X3 to J2C3.1.

We tested and checked this here:  http://www.cygnos360.com/forum/index.php?topic=3147.120

I posted your comment in there for further discussion.  JeffJ tested the connections and found the X0 and X4 were needed so we would have the Southbridge reset properly.  and we found X2 and X3 were related to JTAG hack and not needed.  It is in the thread were we talked about it.

**EDIT** Also Rev F would not need the X0 through X7 points at all.  All rev F would be used for is reading and writing the nand. It would not be a dual boot solution and would not need the southbridge to reset or the JTAG wiring.
