After installing the cygnosV2 and now having the awesome abilities of Xell, I would hate to lose it all because of the RROD. Do you guys think it's necessary to upgrade the cooling and doing the x-clamp fix to prevent the RROD on my falcon unit? Should I leave well enough alone?
I was thinking about purchasing the XCM Xbox 360 Twin Fan Core Cooler v2, getting some whisper fans and also upgrade the X-Clamps. Should I even bother?
Just looking for some feedback from the pros.

I'm in the same situation with my xenon...I think I may just do the 12 volt fan mod and consider it a done deal...

if you want my personal opinion, i dont think a fan on the backside will help. i dont know about all this stuff. it works for some people and doesnt for others. i would if i were you not touch it and only do a reballing (proper! no heat gun stuff) when it really dies. never change a running system...

Makes sense. Can you recommend a trusted reballing company? I have an older system that got the RROD and could use some love.

If you cannot or do not know anyone that can reball the GPU for you for free, and solder it back, it's definitely not worth it to pay a corporate company to perform the task. Reballing and resoldering the GPU will be around the same price as buying a new system from a retail store.

I would upgrade to AS5 thermal paste, and replace the X-clamps, and if your console breaks down the road you can get it reflowed for a fraction of the price of a reball. That's what I did to my Xenon. O ya and 12v mod doesn't hurt either.

Whisper fans are already installed. The xbox still get into the 70-75c while whispers are running. If the fans are set to 100% , the temps also drop about 20c but its hella loud. The xcm coolerv2 really chops off 20c ? That's pretty significant. Might think about getting them , or better yet, installing a silent 120mm on top of the gpu cooler.

Thats what I've always believed, its funny hows things get accustomed to working together and changing one of them can cause problems.

if it aint broke YET... its gonna break! i mean come on, its an xbox 360! i fa sho would do at least a lil somethin to "prevent" wakin up to those red flashin lights. especially if you put a cygnos chip in it. id pull the disc drive out and put a fan right on top of the gpu sink! its not like your really gonna need the dvd drive anymore anyways... external hard drives and ftp and what not is way tighter than gay ass exspensive burned dvds!

I did the 12 volt fan mod and it works very well. Don't care if it's loud, just turn up the t.v.
