can i do this if i got cygnos install??

when i totaly remove my xbox dvd drive with the sata and power wire i got power led blinkin all the time and i just read somewhere i must make conection with 2 point of the dvd power conector (solder gnd to another point..cant remember right now..)so the xbox will see like if the drive was conect (now xbox is thinking the tray is in opening state. question is ..can i do this solder with cygnos install or there is any chance that it can interfere with it ...i dont think so but i dont want to short sumthin in there cuz of a stupid blinkin led
